Background

AFDECOP evolved from the Kenya Health Communication Network, formed as the Kenyan Chapter of the Africa Network for Strategic Communication in Health and Development (AfriComNet) in 2015 following a declaration by members to expand the network beyond the health sector.

AFDECOP builds on the achievements of Africomnet to advocate for increased use of strategic communication approaches. The association aims to build national and regional capacity for implementation, design and evaluation of development communication.

Our mission

We pursue our mission through activities that promote collaboration among our members and with other interested parties in ways that are consistent with the goals of Communication for Development (C4D) in diverse contexts.

AFDECOP Objectives

  • To provide a forum for development communication practitioners and institutions that promotes collaboration to enhance the practice of development communication at the local, national, regional and international levels.
  • To promote professional excellence among members through professional development by offering learning opportunities in development communication.
  • To promote the role of strategic communication in development.
  • To undertake collaborative projects that demonstrate the role of development communication in the advancement of society. To conduct research and promote sharing of information and best practices.
